ATM provides the expert
engineering and science necessary for harbor navigation projects and
port and waterfront development. Our detailed resume of project
experience includes port and harbor expansions, marina/ferry dock
development, dredging alternatives, dredged materials management, cargo
dock design, cruise terminal development, channel and berth
deepening/widening, and inlet management planning.
Whether addressing port planning and coastal engineering challenges or
environmental impact concerns, ATM applies the latest technologies and
management strategies to achieve client objectives in a cost-efficient
manner.
Since 1984, highly skilled engineers and scientists at ATM have been
consistently meeting the engineering needs of our port and harbor
clients in both public and private sectors. We provide practical,
cost-effective plans and designs, as well as critical permitting
assistance, implementation and monitoring, leaving nothing to chance. We
will continue to apply our expertise to make every project a success,
regardless of its location around the world. Why? Because our future
depends on it!

MARINE
ENGINEERING |
ATM provides
full-service port development consulting, including
Program/Project Management, Marine, Civil, Coastal, and Structural
Engineering and Specialized Services for U.S. and international port
locations handling single or multiple cargoes, including
feasibility, siting studies, planning, permitting, design, and
construction management.
We have supported comprehensive planning for small to large
port terminal projects, including container, bulk cargo and cruise
ports along with related highway, bridge, ferry and rail
transportation improvements.
We have also supported large harbor improvement projects to
improve commercial navigation (channel design/ship simulation,
deepening, widening, turning basins, passing lanes, sediment
control/management, jetties, breakwaters, berthing, and dredge
disposal).
Projects and services include:
• Cargo Docks
• Cruise and Ferry Terminals
• Vessel Mooring
• Wave and Wake Effects
• Navigation Projects
• Coastal Structures/Breakwaters
• Shoreline Stabilization
• Underwater Inspection

STRATEGIC
DEVELOPMENT |
Strategic development must
incorporate plans for optimizing harbor features and port
facilities. ATM development experts promote long-term viability and
strategic growth for port facilities by maximizing opportunities and
cultivating collaborative relationships between harbor users and
associated parties through:
• Master Planning and Siting Studies
• Mixed Uses for Marine Facilities
• Alternatives Analysis
• Feasibility/Stakeholder Education and
Community
Partnerships
• Cruise Destination Development
• Support for Government Funding

DREDGED
MATERIALS MANAGEMENT |
Achieving cost-efficient
dredged material management requires a proactive approach by
terminal and waterfront facility operators. Our engineers and
scientists are experts at designing and implementing effective
dredged material management plans that address and resolve dredge
issues before they stifle operations. Services include:
• Development and Permitting of Upland,
Nearshore, and Offshore Dredge
Disposal Sites
• Dredge and Wetland Fill Permitting
• Sediment Quality Evaluations
• Hydrographic and Upland Surveys
• Beneficial Uses for Dredged Materials
• Dredge Management/Monitoring

|
ENVIRONMENTAL
SERVICES |
Environmental permitting
and compliance controversies can extend the permitting schedules and
overall costs of any harbor development project. ATM offers clients
a streamlined process for effectively meeting permit requirements
and complying with regulatory and environmental needs through:
• Permitting and Compliance
• Environmental Management Sys. (EMS)
• Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA)
• Natural and Marine Resources Surveys
• Mitigation Programs

SPECIALIZED
TECHNOLOGIES |
ATM has conducted hundreds
of computer modeling studies to evaluate coastal and
marine conditions. This includes potential project alternatives, impacts, and hazards
resulting from navigation projects, marine terminals, mooring
facilities, and coastal structures.
Predictive models support design optimization and permitting
for proposed harbor development projects by representing the
dynamics of sedimentation patterns, current velocities, waves,
wakes, and water quality. We use these models to evaluate future terminal and pier
structures, shoreline erosion, water quality, wetlands, beaches,
threatened or endangered species, sensitive habitats, historic
properties, and groundwater.
Excessive sedimentation and increasing dredging and
disposal costs are driving up operation and maintenance (O&M) costs
for many marine terminals. ATM assists clients in minimizing these costs
through tailored solutions utilizing the most current engineering
technologies early in the planning process.
Our extensive modeling capabilities include:
• Coastal, Estuarine, and Watershed Modeling
• Sedimentation Minimization Technologies
• Field Surveys/Monitoring
• GIS/Data Management |
