Tender Design for Congo Container Terminal

Location: Port of Pointe-Noire, Republic of Congo

Client: MAR Marine and Building Contracting LLC

Project Description: The Port of Pointe-Noire is one of Central Africa’s busiest deepwater seaports and Congo’s primary commercial gateway, with drafts of up to 16 metres and modern handling infrastructure capable of accommodating large vessels. As part of Abu Dhabi Ports Group’s global expansion, a concession was awarded to develop a new container terminal on land reclaimed during the Port’s Eastern Expansion. MAR Marine and Building Contracting, appointed for the marine works, engaged ATM to prepare the tender design for the container terminal. This work included a new berth engineered for a dredge level of –16 metres LAT with a 0.5-metre over-dredging allowance to receive the next generation of container vessels calling at Pointe-Noire. ATM’s role included container berth quay wall design, quay and crane furniture details, a technical note underpinning the tender design, tender drawings, and the client-facing tender presentation.
