Operational Optimization for Vizhinjam Container Terminal
Location: Vizhinjam Port, Kerala, India
Client: Adani Ports
Project Description: Vizhinjam Port sits at the southern tip of the Indian peninsula, offering direct access to the world’s busiest east–west shipping lanes and rapidly emerging as one of India’s flagship container gateways. Adani Ports engaged ATM to evaluate the existing container terminal concept and propose optimised alternatives that would reduce overall project cost while preserving operational performance and sustainability. ATM assessed the design against four parameters: technical feasibility, economic viability, ease of construction and operational efficiency. We then developed practical, implementable alternatives for the expansion. ATM’s role included data collection and review, a site visit, evaluation of existing container terminal operations and practices, development of alternative solutions for port expansion, and a technical feasibility study supported by economic analysis and practical implementation strategies.
