Berth 55 Quay Wall Integrity Assessment for Port of Jebel Ali

Location: Jebel Ali Port, Dubai, UAE

Client: McDermott Middle East, Inc.

Project Description: McDermott’s fabrication yard at Jebel Ali handles some of the heaviest offshore loadouts in the region, work that places enormous demands on the quay wall and apron deck behind Berths 55 and 56. Ahead of a planned SPMT loadout of a 6,000-tonne jacket and a skidded loadout of a 14,000-tonne topside, McDermott turned to ATM to confirm the berth could safely carry the loads and to secure DP World’s approval to proceed. ATM assessed the existing mass-concrete blockwork quay wall and apron deck against two loadout configurations, giving McDermott the engineering assurance and regulatory clearance needed to move ahead with confidence. ATM’s role included condition assessment of the existing quay wall and apron deck, geotechnical interpretation and design basis, structural capacity verification for two loadout scenarios and engineering support for DP World approval.
