Detailed Design and Site Supervision for Ahmed Bin Rashid Port

Project Description: Ahmed Bin Rashid Port is a vital gateway for container, general, Ro-Ro and bulk cargo serving the northern Emirates, with four berths, an 845-metre quay, and a 23-hectare yard. To deepen the port’s operational capacity and enhance the adjacent coastline, the Government of Umm Al Quwain appointed ATM as marine engineering consultant for the development of the navigation channel and a new beach west of the port. The scheme involved dredging approximately 900,000 cubic metres from the approach channel, turning basin, and berth pockets to a depth of –11.0 metres CD, as well as reclaiming a one-kilometre stretch of beach. This work delivered both greater accessibility for larger vessels and a valuable amenity for the wider community. ATM’s role spanned site investigation; bathymetric, topographic, geotechnical and geophysical surveys; a full suite of coastal studies including metocean, wave, hydrodynamic and sediment plume modelling; and detailed beach and retaining structure design. We were also responsible for tender preparation and evaluation and site supervision through construction.
