Project Description: Mina Al Hamriya is one of the Gulf’s most distinctive cargo ports. A traditional hub for non-containerised trade between Dubai, the Arabian Gulf, East Africa and India, it is home to one of the Middle East’s largest livestock quarantine facilities and a preferred base for the region’s fishing fleet, capable of berthing dhows and break-bulk vessels in large numbers. To protect that versatility and meet rising demand, DP World commissioned new berths parallel to Quay Berths 8 and 9, outside the existing Mina Hamriyah Harbour basin, engineered to accommodate dhows of varying deadweight tonnage. ATM delivered the design for the new sheet pile quay wall, capping beam, rock revetments along the quay’s two edges and the dredging works beyond the new quay area, work that expanded both the usable quay length and the port’s long-term flexibility. ATM’s role included data collection and review, detailed design of the quay wall structure and capping beam, tie-in revetment stability checks and authority approvals.
