Quay Wall Refurbishment for Port of Jebel Ali
Location: Jebel Ali Port, UAE
Client: MAR Marine and Building Contracting LLC
Project Description: As the Middle East’s largest and busiest seaport and DP World’s flagship gateway linking Asia, Africa and Europe, Jebel Ali Port cannot afford to take berths out of service for long. When DP World’s Marine Operations Team identified progressive structural damage and significant thickness loss at the East Wharf quay wall, a full refurbishment was commissioned to restore capacity. DP World awarded the marine works to MAR, who appointed ATM to deliver the detailed design. This design was a complete replacement package covering the wall itself, its supporting services and associated landside infrastructure. ATM’s role included site investigation and data review, performance and material specifications, basis of design and preliminary and detailed design drawings for demolition. We were also responsible for the sheet pile wall with grouted anchors, capping beam, quay furniture, pavement, scour protection, potable water, firefighting, lighting and CCTV and issued-for-construction drawings, as well as for securing authority approvals.
